World Wide Web is the name given to a large
collection of information, pictures and other data, which can be accessed
through the Internet. It is the most active and the fastest growing part of the
Internet.
World
Wide Web is based on client/server architecture. Web client programs are called
browsers. In the beginning, browsers were text-based and were difficult to use.
Later graphical-based browsers were developed. These were simple and easy to
use and the web began to grow and get popular.
In
the Internet, information is stored in different files in different computers.
Each file is called a web page. Web pages can have text, image, animated
figures, audio clips or a combination of all these.
